We last did this grand circuit in May 2016.   Revisit our old forest tracks in Lismore forest.

Meet:  Upokongaro cafe, SH4

Time : 10am, Sunday 6 December

Distance: About 38km – Highway, forest and farm roads.

Route:  Upokongaro to Lismore, up Mangaone Rd to the lake,  right into the Lismore backblocks  then onto a private forest block with views of the Mangawhero River.  We will have a short lunch stop at Ken Pawson’s new hunting pad then across farm paddocks and down Makirikiri Valley Rd (great flowing downhill) to Upokongaro.  Hopefully the cafe will still be open for a cuppa and a quick visit to the long-awaited bridge!

*Some biggish hills so you should be moderately fit.  We will however be going at a leisurely pace to the lunch stop.  From there people in a hurry can hive off and race back if they so wish.
